The Town of Richmond Hill purchased the land in the mid-1970s to serve as a recycling depot. The town had been hosting a Spring Fair since 1849. The town had outgrown the farm, but the new park was ready to host the first Spring Fair in 1985. The park was soon made obsolete as the town continued to expand. The new park was able to serve as a soccer field for children, and it was the first indoor soccer field in Canada.
