My Weekend in Richmond Hill

My Weekend in Richmond Hill

One of my relatives moved to Richmond Hill a few years ago with her family. I got the chance to finally pay them a visit last July after I finished a business meeting with one of my clients in Toronto. They invited me over to spend the weekend with them since we haven’t seen each other for a long time. And I did not expect that my weekend would be full-packed but exciting in Richmond Hill.

Fishing at Lake Wilcox

On early Saturday morning, they first took me at Lake Wilcox to fish. We first fished from the shore and watched the peaceful blue waters, until we caught a few smallmouth bass and yellow perch. At the west end of Lake Wilcox is the Lake Wilcox Fish and Wildlife Refuge, where fishing is not allowed. If you’ll visit Richmond Hill, I recommend Lake Wilcox. You can find it in the Oak Ridges neighborhood of Richmond Hill, Ontario.

Skating at Tom Graham Arena Complex

After fishing, we went to Tom Graham Arena Complex to skate. The kids kept teasing me because I didn’t know how to skate. Good thing they offer skating lessons on site, and in a short period of time I learned the basics. The place is great and there are two huge skating rinks. Even the change room and washroom are all clean. I really had a great time at Tom Graham Arena Complex. If you plan to visit there, it is located at 1300 Elgin Mills Road E, Richmond Hill, Ontario.

Attending Ribfest

My visit was just in time for the annual Ribfest. So, we spent the rest of the day attending Ribfest, one of the largest festivals in Richmond Hill. The ribs were perfectly cooked, it was tender and tasty. Even the sauce was quite flavorful. Paired with local beer and live entertainment, we had the whole afternoon catching up and watching live performances. The kids also enjoyed in the midway and children’s play activity area. The Ribfest is held every July at Richmond Green Sports Centre and Park at 1300 Elgin Mills Road E, Richmond Hill, Ontario.
Getting active at Eyer Homestead Park

The next day, we started the day by getting active at Eyer Homestead Park. The place has a Ropes Challenge Course, where both kids and adults can have fun. They also have wall climbing activity and several obstacle course. The staff are all accommodating and friendly, they guided us specially the kids in going through the ropes challenge course. Eyer Homestead Park is located at 1045 Elgin Mills Road East, Richmond Hill, Ontario.

Lunch at Little Saigon

After an exhausting but fun morning at Eyer Homestead Park, they took me to a Vietnamese restaurant called Little Saigon. We ordered their beef pho and spring rolls, as well as their best-seller, the lemongrass beef vermicelli. The place is very nice and the food was delicious. Little Saigon is located at 9625 Yonge Street Unit J Richmond Hill, Ontario.

Swimming at Bayview Hill Community Centre

In the afternoon, we took the kids for swimming at Bayview Hill Community Centre. It was also a nice time for me to relax and spend time with them. The place is clean and spacious. There is also a basketball court, tennis court, gym, and indoor pool with slides. The staff are nice and helpful with our needs. It is a great place to play with the kids and enjoy with the whole family. Bayview Hill Community Centre is located at 114 Spadina Road, Richmond Hill, Ontario.
