Richmond Hill Cultural Summit has been celebrated since 2014. Every year, they feature cultural programs and all creative industries in Richmond Hill. It is a great chance to learn more about Richmond Hill’s culture. They also discuss updates on the town’s Cultural Plan and present Richmond Hill Arts Awards. This year, local artists and groups like Norman Dance Company, Jake Charles, Opera York Children's Chorus, and Arts Mackenzie performed in the Cultural Summit. Aimie Botelho also gave a special Spotlight Artist Talk. The unveiling of the Cultural Summit Visual Art Gallery also took place on the Cultural Summit 2019. Richmond Hill’s Cultural Summit is held in Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts at 10268 Yonge St, Richmond Hill, Ontario. The next Cultural Summit will be on March 31, 2020.
Doors Open Richmond Hill
Doors Open is an annual event in many cities in Canada and other countries. It is a day when cultural sites open their doors to the public for free. As part of Doors Open Ontario, Richmond Hill host Doors Open event this year on May 11, 2019. Canada Day, formerly called Dominion Day, is a national holiday celebrated on July 1. And in Richmond Hill, thousands of people enjoy this day by participating in the activity area and midway where fun events take place like sideshows, games of chance or skill, or other amusements. They also have a beer garden, art exhibits, and food vendors. The most awaited part of the celebration is the live performances of local artists and the fireworks display which is known to be one of the largest fireworks display in the region. Craving for ribs? Then you won’t want to miss Richmond Hill’s Ribfest! Professional rib teams from North America travel to Richmond Hill to celebrate Ribfest, an annual 3-day outdoor festival where they compete for different awards such as Best Ribs and Best Sauce. Celebrate with great beer and live entertainment, while kids enjoy in the midway and children’s play activity area. Richmond Hill Ribfest will be held on July 24 - 26, 2020 at Richmond Green Sports Centre and Park at 1300 Elgin Mills Road E, Richmond Hill, Ontario.
Santa Claus Parade
This event is one of the most awaited activity of the year – whether for kids and even kids-at-heart! The Santa Claus parade is an early-Christmas festivity that brings us the holiday cheer. Thousands of people visit Richmond Hill to see different large floats featuring Santa and Mrs. Claus and their lovely reindeers. This nighttime parade also features themed marching bands and walking groups. The theme for this year is Toyland, and the celebration will be held on November 16, 2019 from William F. Bell Parkway travelling south on Leslie Street ending at Performance Drive. Admission is free while participating groups and floats will pay certain fees.
Another annual holiday celebration at Richmond Hill is First Night, the New Year’s Eve party. This family-friendly event has something for everyone – kids can play at festival-themed inflatables with bouncy castles and slides, while mom and dad can visit local businesses that sells winter-themed arts and crafts and many other products and services. First Night is celebrated on December 31st at Richmond Green Sports Centre and Tom Graham Arena.
